Yesterday I ran into my favorite niece at church in the lobby. When she walked in the door, she lit up. She wears her joy on her face. It made her old uncle so joyful to see her joy. She couldn’t chat long because she was off to serve others at that church in a role she loves. I believe she was more beaming about that service opportunity than seeing her old uncle.
You who are young, be happy while you are young,
and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth.-Ecclesiastes 11:9
After church, we caught up in the lobby again. I was asking her about the start of school and upcoming events.
Me: “Hey, are you going to homecoming?”
Beaming she said…. “I just got asked last night.”
She then said “let me go get my phone, I’ll show you.”
When she returned she shared the picture of the moment she was asked. That’s a big deal nowadays. HOCO invitations matter. They hit different for young ladies.
As she showed me the video, her smile lit up the whole church lobby. She was beaming with joy and excitement.
So let me ask you, when was the last time you were beaming with joy and excitement?
I would imagine we all had that “first love” in our heart and joy too. Maybe it was a job, a date, a spouse, a child or a moment.
When did we lose beaming?
What is causing you to not be full of joy like my niece in that lobby yesterday?

You met them there. Meet us today in our places of work, our homes, our schools, our cars, our social media and our texts. Wherever we are. Invite us to Homecoming with You Lord…….
