One month from today, I hope all of you enter a booth and vote. It’s one of the most toxic and hottest political seasons of my 54-year lifetime. To clear the deck here, I don’t owe you this but let me go ahead and share it anyway……
In 1992 I voted for Ross Perot (My first ever vote because I thought he would fix the economy)
In 1996 I voted for Ross Perot again (because I believed he had moral character and plan)
In 2000 I voted for “W” and I have never regretted that vote.
In 2004 I voted for “W” again.
In 2008 I voted for Obama. I bought what he was selling. I caught feelings for his ability to speak.
In 2012 I voted Romney. I was smarter. I saw past the speeches and feelings.
In 2016 I voted Trump. I was no longer buying what the machine was selling.
In 2020 I voted Trump again. I know what I had for those 4 years. I saw past mean tweets but I know many didn’t and still can’t.
In 2024 I will vote for……
To be honest with you all, we’re 30 days out. What I vote for this year is between me and that voting machine. I hope I have shown in this post that I will vote for my head AND my heart. I vote for who I think can lead this nation.
Now more than ever, I vote for the boss of those men and women who put on a uniform and defend our freedom.
You know, some people put on a uniform every day. They don’t know what that day will mean. They may not survive that day depending on what the clowns in Washington decide they have to do.
They do it anyway.
They choose the Jesus way.
They choose to surrender. They choose to love. Even those they don’t know. They choose my family. They choose yours too. They put on that uniform.
Our men and women in the military.
Our police, fire, rescue.
They don’t get to choose the work schedule. The when and where. They just choose to serve. They choose to be the hands and feet. Even if they don’t believe in Christ, they choose to serve as He taught us to.
I am the proud son of a man that served this nation. I fly my flag proudly because I understand the importance of this nation and those that serve it. This year, we have a clear choice between feelings and quotes and actual service. I believe we have a choice between word salads about joy and emotions and actions. I believe we have a choice FAR beyond cheap gas. I believe the choice could not be more clear.
I won’t tell you who I am voting for. The beauty of this nation is we get to vote for who we think can lead us. Who we want to be our Commander in Chief. Now, more than ever we need to choose the leader we want in that room with our enemies. I believe that choice can not be more clear.
Do it for those that are willing to die for the CEO of this nation.
Register to vote today. Show up next month. Vote.
I will vote the Jesus way. I’m pretty sure you know who I am voting for based on that sentence alone. If that offends you, I still love you. That is the Jesus way. I’ll still love you, hug you, care about you and be there. That is the surrender that our men and women in uniform show. They live the Jesus way. That is the LEAST I can do in their honor.
Whatever you choose. Whoever you choose. Please vote next month. Do it for those that serve this nation.
